History

+VG Architects (The Ventin Group) was formed as the successor firm to W.M. Smale, which began practice in 1952. In 1972, the firm’s founding partner, Carlos Ventin, broke away from the popular attitude towards municipal development and convinced numerous public sector clients of the benefit of adaptive re-use of their heritage buildings. Rather than the “demolish and build new” approach prevalent at the time, The Ventin Group Architects brought new life to Southern Ontario’s heritage building fabric. Since 1972, the firm has grown with offices throughout Ontario currently in Toronto, Brantford and Ottawa.
