Bethell House was created to provide an improved, alternative palliative care environment with a non-clinical, home-like atmosphere for bereaved family members.

Necessary clinical and administrative spaces allow seamless function within the “home-like” atmosphere for the various professional disciplines which function with the facility. Key design features include:

  • Spacious, yet furnished for a home-like feel
  • Ample outdoor visiting spaces with connected walkways. Walkways are “accessible” to allow both wheelchair and bed access
  • Large inviting great room for visiting with family or as a comfortable family waiting area
  • Sound proof suites
  • Direct access outside from suites to semi-private patio
  • Outdoor family gathering area (patio/walkway/gardens)
  • Washrooms in suites, fully barrier-free with entire floor slopes to drain, eliminating curbs and shower barriers. Walls and floor tiled for easy cleaning
  • In-floor heating throughout suites
  • HEPA filtered HVAC system protects staff and visitors from air borne impurities
